About UsFondazzjoni Wirt Artna - Malta’s Non-governmental organization active in the field of cultural heritage preservation and management, for this adventure we would like to propose a team building activity for any interested parties of any background. This special activity is unlike any other. The Romanus adventure will take the visitors personally in the arena for training and open the gates to the atmosphere of Rome.

Activity

This event will take place at The Arena, Fort Rinella, Kalkara. Training will be flexible for all who will apply for lessons during all week. Participants will take part in large formations of foot soldiers that will recreate the battle formations and tactics of the time. This will include keeping pace with horses, javelin throwing while carrying heavy armor and shield. The displays will include artillery and other missile firing.

Participants can be both male or female. Roman drill is an incredible experience whether you are a soldier or not and we believe it should be available to everyone with an interest. This is a unique opportunity that really is everything you will hope it to be and more.

By car
Fort Rinella is located on the eastern side of the Grand Harbour at Kalkara. It can be reached via all major roads to Cottonera (Three Cities) onto Kalkara following directional signs from Kalkara.
By Bus
Fort Rinella is well served by bus no.3 to Kalkara from Valletta main station. It stops right outside its main gate. The frequency of this bus is every half hour from Mon to Sat and every hour on Sundays.
Opening Times
Fort Rinella is open Mon - Sat from 10.00 till 17.00hrs. Closed on New Year's Eve, New Year, Good Friday, Easter, Santa Marija 15 August, Christmas Eve and Christmas.
Guided tours & Film shows
A visit to Fort Rinella includes a guided tour and a film show about the history of the historic fort and its 100-ton gun. All historical re-enactment displays are also included in the entrance fee. Film shows roughly timed on the hour.
This attraction is also equipped with free audio-guides in Arabic, English, Dutch, German, Maltese, Spanish, Russian, French, Danish, Chinese, Japanese and Italian.
